Discover the Art of Advanced Gelli Plate Printing

When I started teaching Gelli plate printing 14 years ago, I used to tell my students, “If you want a tree here and a gate there, Gelli printing might not be for you—it's more of an experimental process for making collage papers.”
How wrong I was.
Over the years, I’ve pushed the boundaries of what’s possible with the Gelli plate—transforming it from a playful tool for background textures into a powerful medium for creating rich, layered, finished works of art. Through careful experimentation and refinement, I’ve developed techniques that allow for both complex, multi-layered one-pull prints and beautifully resolved final pieces.

This course is designed to take you beyond making papers for collage—into the realm of finished, fine art-standard Gelli prints.

Together, we’ll troubleshoot common challenges like:

  • Paper sticking to the plate during multi-layer pulls

  • Managing drying times between layers

  • Creating balance and depth in your final compositions

What You’ll Get Inside the Course:

Three In-Depth Modules — Each module focuses on a specific advanced technique, with comprehensive, step-by-step tutorials to guide you through the process.
Build Your Confidence — You’ll learn how to refine your skills, avoid common mistakes, and develop your own unique artistic voice.
Creative Coaching Sessions on Zoom — Join a supportive, like-minded community for live sessions where you can share your work, ask questions, gain feedback, and solve problems together in a safe and encouraging space.

This is more than just a course—it’s a deep dive into the creative potential of Gelli printing. If you’re ready to evolve your process and create one-of-a-kind prints you’ll be proud to frame, I’d love to have you join us.

This has been a wonderful course with so many exciting techniques to try and then use in your own artwork. Clare is a very good teacher and breaks things down into step by step phases in real time. Beginners and those more experienced with the gel plate will equally enjoy this course

TESTIMONIAL

I am really enjoying the course. It feels good to be doing it as a community and  part of the group too, with both the Facebook interactions (to share things) and Zoom calls (which probably helps to incentives to keep us on track with the programme too).

TESTIMONIAL

I’ve been using gel plate printing to make collage papers for a while, but was in need of inspiration and new ideas, so I was excited to find out about Clare’s new, online ‘Pushing the Boundaries of Gelli Printing' Course. I’ve watched the free videos for beginners on Clare’s YouTube channel and attended some in person workshops, so I already knew what a great teacher Clare was and was looking forward to learning some new and more advanced techniques to try out  - and the course didn’t disappoint!

Not sure if you will like my teaching style?

Let me reassure you...I may be new to creating online courses but I am fully qualified and have been teaching for over 17 years both in the community and in the FE sector.
My advice would be to watch a few of my YouTube videos. I offer clear instruction, guiding you through a step by step process. I aim to adopt the same approach as I do with my in-person workshops. I will be keeping it real, so I can't guarantee perfection. One thing I can promise is no plinky-plonky music!
